Emma, a 6 year old bundle of energy, was simply too much for her former owners with their long work days and high demand for exercise and attention. One thing was certain...Emma LOVED to retrieve and NEVER tired out! In her foster home, she learned that there would be a predictable schedule of up time and down time, and she learned that snuggling on the couch or chewing on a bone were pretty OK too!
With daily exercise and mental challenges, long walks and games of retrieving, she settled down and became a model Boykin in her foster home, and was soon ready to find her own forever home.
May 2020 Update:
Greetings! Thank you for the kind note remembering my “Gotcha Day.” I am happy, happy, happy! My mom and dad are home all the time now and I love it. This past year has been the best ever! I have a big back yard where we play catch. I’ve become very adept at capturing the ball in the air. I follow dad around when he is working in his garden, or sit with my mom enjoying the scenery. We have a forest behind our fenced yard and I enjoy all kinds of wild smell. I love to chase the squirrels and birds away from the garden. I also let the deer know they are to stay away from the fence! I have a special spot in the den on an ottoman that is between my mom’s and dad’s recliners. Though I have to confess, I often cuddle in their laps. It is such a comfort to know I am loved!
I know I have found my “forever home” and want to thank you for all the help you gave me to get me here. You do amazing work! I wish all my cousin Boykins find the happiness I have found with my family.
Sending a couple of pictures from this past year. One “catching” what looked like a snowball on the apple tree. One waiting for my dad to come inside. The last one resting in my special place in the den.
