PFC Daisy
Daisy was 8 years old when she came into BSR's care in June 2022. She had spent the first 8 years of life outside with other dogs but with very little human contact. When she came into care, she had dry eyes, itchy skin, double ear infections, and was heartworm positive. She also had a fear of strangers. For the heartworms, Daisy went through the American Heartworm Society full 3-shot protocol. However after treatment concluded, she still tested positive for microfilaria and had to undergo another round of HW treatment, fortunately with a negative test at the end!
Her more chronic skin and allergy conditions were much harder to get on top of. However, her itchy coat and skin eventually improved with customized allergy shots being part of her protocol. Her chronic ear infections presented a greater challenge and after multiple visits to the regular vet and specialists, she ultimately she required bilateral TECA surgery in May 2023. Daisy came through the surgery like a champ and still retains her hearing. Today she continues to do well and is loving life with her permanent foster family!
