Elmer had lived most of his life in and out of boarding situations and had not received adequate preventative care. He had been heartworm positive for several years before rescue was finally contacted. At 13, he became a Permanent Foster Care (PFC) dog with our goal to get him healthy and let him have whatever time he has left in love and good care. After treatment for the heartworms with a slow kill approach, the foster worked on cleaning up his skin and improving his diet. Eventually, what remained was an arthritic back and old age problems. His foster and vet, along with the Boykin Spaniel Rescue (BSR) dog care committee, are seeing to it that Elmer's time with BSR will be the most loving of his life and that he will know nothing but comfort!
