PFC Weezy
Weezy came into BSR's care in September 2021 as a typical adoptable dog with some noise and separation anxieties that we hoped would be treatable like so many other foster dogs before her. However, as the months stretched on, Weezy's anxiety continued to remain high. Being left alone would send her into a serious tailspin (even with other dogs in the home and calming medications). A change to a "fear free" veterinarian has led to a combination of medications to manage not just day-to-day anxiety but also to deal with periodic stressful situations like storms.
A dog sitter has also helped the foster family find some balance in their lives; and, given the detailed medication and handling required, it was determined that Weezy just could not be adopted out. Over the past year, dog earmuffs for noise protection/noise canceling has been added to Weezy's "stress/anxiety reducing" toolbox and have proven to be incredibly effective. Weezy remains with her foster as a PFC and together with BSR, they adjust with the various, on-going changes in her idiosyncrasies.
