We hope your summer is off to a great start! The year for BSR has been busy. The dogs keep coming—TEN intakes just in the month of June. And, the increase in complexity and severity of many of the cases has been significant and cumbersome. Dogs with significant neurologic issues, heart issues, orthopedic issues. All with the opportunity to have a great quality of life with the care they need.
Bigger picture, we have taken in thirty-nine (39) dogs, 30% of those are heartworm positive, 42% require spay/neuter, and 35% are seniors. We have a total of 24 dogs in our Permanent Foster Care Program today.
When a dog comes into our care, each is vetted and a Care Plan developed. When a complex case is determined, our Medical Care team along with the foster, veterinarian, and Veterinary Advisors (if needed) all weigh in. Paramount in all we do is the determination as to quality of life. And, with that, a plan is developed.
And so, as we need to do, we are asking for your help. Our goal is to raise $50,000 in the next few weeks. We know this is a big ask. We also know the heart of Boykin Nation. During the campaign, we will be sharing many of the journeys of the dogs we have had the privilege to care for. We will find them all on our website and shared on social media.
Today we are asking for hope. Hope for the dogs that continue to come in and for the dogs that remain in our care. We are very fortunate. We have not had to make tough decisions based on cost. If the dog’s quality of life will be good, we do what is needed. But, we cannot do that without the support of our BSR Family.
Our Goal during this campaign is to raise $50,000!
