Bailey's Bio: Meet Bailey, a beautiful 9 yr old Boykin lady looking for a forever home. In her previous life, Bailey was a well loved and pampered only dog. She enjoyed swimming almost daily and is in excellent physical condition and very healthy. She is housebroken, crate trained, rides well in vehicles, since she went everywhere with her previous humans. She is acclimating well to the change in her circumstances, even though at first she was sad and just wants to find a new family soon.
July 2018 Update by Richard Simoneau
We have just moved to our lake house that I bought for Bailey to go swimming since my old house was on a river that had gators, she wasn't allowed to swim there. Now she is happy getting to swim daily again! I’ve just about got grooming down as she is a little too feisty for the groomers I’ve used in the past but I’m getting there, going to buy a clipper which just changes the heads and doesn’t clog up on this curly lil girlie. She and my male Boykin, Wheez must had come from the same coarse, tight curly hair group! My last boykin, But we have now got a special spot here at the house for haircuts and baths, and if there’s room I’m putting in a whirlpool tub for her, that should be a trip! Got the evil eye from the vet the other day for her weight, 48 lbs. Lil’ fatty is her name at breakfast and dinner time, but now that we have moved we hope she will work it off swimming and running! I make her a special dinner at night and get that look if something is left out, most is low fat stuff but I suppose the portion has to be adjusted, but she is rather large for a female and super feisty too. Loves people and other dogs but she lets them know when it’s her territory. Can’t believe it but she even loves the pit bulls next door at the lake!
She has been the most fun to be with, what I love is she has her own sense of what she wants to do and not do, at her age she is still so full of adventure, she’s finally starting to listen when I tell her no, or bad, as she isn’t afraid of snakes, snapping turtles, and possibly gators, which she hasn’t encountered yet thankfully. Although she was about to decide if a skunk was playful when I blew the whistle and she came running back to me. Her spirit for her age is unbelievable, she’s wide open until she sound asleep, I told her that was cheating cause she gets to sleep as we ride 2-3-4 hours back home.
