BSR Bella (Stella Bella) 1205
Bio:
Hi, my name is Stella-Bella, a fun, spunky 6 year old who is reveling in all the attention and care I am getting in my time with BSR. I am a very active, healthy girl who is full of personality. I weigh about 34 pounds and have an amazing, wavy, curly, fast growing coat. My foster mom says I am fun and a beauty too!
I love to play! I have a blast chasing water out of the hose or swimming after balls like a youngster. Retrieving toys and bumpers is fun too, but I do need more work on the “bringing back and releasing” part! My foster mom says I am very, very smart. I know a number of commands, will come when called, will “kennel” on command (I like my kennel and will sleep there all night) and I walk on a leash like a champion. I love long walks and even a short run. I am trustworthy in the house while my people are out. I do like to stay close to my people, so don’t think you can just put me outside in the yard for a long time with other dogs or I might just start digging! Boy, do I love to ride in the car. I jump right in! Short trips and especially long trips, I do great. I love to explore new places and see new sights.
I am a confident girl, and I like being top dog. I can get jealous (not always) over toys and food when I decide I don’t want to play or share with other dogs. I let them know with a little growl to watch out. If the other dog is non-dominant I might play just fine with them, but on my terms. My new family needs to be comfortable managing my interactions with other dogs.
I also need to be groomed regularly and my ears need to be watched for possible infections which Boykins are prone to.
My ideal home would be with an active family who have the time and commitment to spend time with me and take me with them on their adventures. I need lots of good exercise, walks and play since I have so much good energy. Older children would be fun as well as another non-dominant dog. I would love a place to swim or my person to take me often to the water! I am a happy, fun, smart girl ready to give lots of love to the right family.
2022 Update:
We enjoy the correspondence from BSR. We are really enjoying Bella. She is so sweet. Sometimes we are puzzled with her exuberance for an 8 year old Boykin! She loves other people, and believes that the folks we meet on walks are there just to see her!! She is thrilled with our neighbors' new Boykin, who is about 5 months old. Bella does well when she is with our childrens' dogs: a Golden named Banjo, and a Shephard mix named Bodie. Here are a couple recent pics of Bella. We will send more after the Holidays.
