Ollie came into BSR's care when his family faced upheavals that left them unable to care for him. He was a cheerful and affectionate dog and got on well with others in his pack. He did not like to be left alone, but his canine buddies made sure that wasn't an issue. But, he had a serious ball addiction! Everywhere Ollie went--whether in the car, enjoying the ride, or running outside--he had to have a ball in his mouth! In fact, it was this oral fixation that led his foster to notice a large black mass in his gumline, which thankfully was determined to be benign and successfully removed. When he was healed and ready to be adopted, he needed a large, active pack of canine brothers and sisters to be with; lots of land to run on; and LOTS of balls!
2020 UPDATE!
First I’d like to thank BSR for helping me get from my first family to my fur-ever family. I’m now 9-years-old and I’ve been home for a little over a year. It was a bit scary at first, being in a new place with a new Mom. There were a lot of dogs also, but I liked that part.
Mom made me feel loved right away and even lets me sleep with her. I really like to snuggle with her wherever she sits. If there’s no room, I just stretch out on top of her. I will admit that I had some separation anxiety at first and didn’t like it when she would leave me inside and she’d go outside or leave me outside if she was inside! I’m happy to report that after a couple of weeks, I got that monkey off my back.
I still jump even though Mom says “NO, Ollie!” She says I’m like a bull in a China shop. I think she exaggerates. I’m just excited to see her, to wake up, to see everybody else is awake, to eat, to go outside, to find my ball, to go for car rides, to chew on bones, to......I think you get what I’m saying!
I love my family. There are 7 of us including Mom. Oh yes, and I love my ball. I don’t really want to chase it because I’m a bit chubby. But, I do love carrying it around. You’ll be happy to hear that I’ve learned to dig, snuffle, get in the water, chase, play, venture on my own and have fun since moving here. We have lots of daily adventures and I’m as happy as a pig in mud!
Thank you, again, for all you do and please keep up the good work so that no Boykin is left behind!
