Chester came into BSR as a 10 years old, outside-only dog. He is a BIG Boykin, and very strong, but was not getting the time, attention and exercise that he deserved. Upon intake, it was discovered that Chester had a tumor growing in his gumline, and further investigation with veterinary specialists determined that it was a malignant tumor that had rooted down into the jawbone. In order to give Chester the best shot at survival, a portion of his lower jaw needed to be removed as well. The surgery was a success, and Chester and his foster settled into the more routine aspects of fostering: teaching him to live indoors and have basic manners and obedience.
2020 Update "Big Man" Chester has bonded to his adopter and considers himself to be a lap dog, even at 50 lbs! He is sweet and loving, and BSR is happy to have given him a shot at living out his senior years in health and with a doting mom!
