Dixie was a shy female but had a HUGE love of water that her foster discovered while she was in care. Dixie was a true water dog and had lots of Boykin “birdy” instincts. She had some minor health issues to overcome, as well as some basic training needs, but soon Dixie was ready to look for her forever home!
September 2019 Update!
Hello Friends at BSR ! Press and Susie Beattie appreciate all the work you did to bring Dixie into our family. Dixie has a FULL life living and playing on five acres of wetland and loves the outdoors. We live on Black Creek in Hartsville, SC . Dixie's favorite thing to do is to run to the creek and jump in, paddle around awhile and rest beside the fishing pond in the shade. Dixie is very in tune with our routine which includes yard work, fishing , and hanging out on the property. Dixie sniffs the same areas every day when I walk her on the leash. She loves to chase birds but never catches them.
Dixie is friendly with people and children. She loves our four grandchildren and watches them fish. She is good at letting us know when people come down our road by barking. Dixie loves to sit in the den and living room on TOP of the back of the sofas. Dixie spent time with a professional trainer after we adopted her and has done well following basic commands. However, she LOVES to counter surf in the kitchen and our little gates have not worked very well , Smart dog ! Our LBD is a well loved part of our family with a loving personality, gentle ways, and a keen understanding of what we ask of her. She is adored by us and our extended family.
