Gunner came into BSR's care in 2018 as a malnourished, un-vetted outdoor-only dog. First stop in his care journey was to a volunteer who was also a vet tech, and she helped him get a thorough vetting with all necessary vaccines. It was there that Gunner was found to be heartworm positive, and so he began treatment to become fully healthy and adoptable. Over time, Gunner was found to be very "birdy" and showed great aptitude for training as a field dog. His eventual adopter capitalized on Gunner's willingness to please as well as his natural instincts. Gunner is now the quintessential Boykin....loyal working dog in the field and loving family member at home!
2021 Update on Gunner:
Gunner is the sweetest boy and the perfect pet for our family! He’s easy going and laid back. He’s seriously the sweetest animal I’ve ever known! Our entire family is crazy about him. Our college-aged daughter will FaceTime us just to see Gunner. He loves to chase tennis balls and hunt lizards in his back yard. He just had his first evacuation when we evacuated for hurricane Ida and he did great. I don’t think there is a more loved dog on earth. I’ve attached a few pics. Thanks, The Branch Family
