Jake was an active adolescent 18 month old Boykin, full of energy and eagerness. Heartworm positive when he came into rescue, he was treated and came through with flying colors. His energy and eagerness to learn and please his people made him a very popular dog once he was available for adoption!
May 2021 Update
April marked 4 years since Jake joined our family. It has been an adventure for all of us. Jake likes a routine in his day, and knows when it's Greenie time each evening (Daylight Savings Time does not confuse him). He loves his blankets, especially one that now looks like Swiss cheese, but he never chews on our blankets and throws (Good Dog!).
He enjoyed having his people work from home this past year. Truck rides and people watching are great entertainment. Guarding the house against delivery people and squirrels keeps him on high alert.
This boy LOVES cold weather! His energy level goes up as the temp goes down, and snow is better than dog treats. Good thing he moved to the north Georgia mountains.
We are so grateful to have this sweet, funny boy. We love him and his crazy topknot.

September 2019 Update
BSR alum 1004 Jake has been with his family for 2 years now. He was slowed down several months ago by a painful bulging disc, but has bounced back and is thriving. Except for a few scars, all his bald patches have filled in nicely. Whether we're away 2 minutes or a week, he still shows joy and anxiety when we return (he can make us feel guilty for going to the grocery store!).
Jake loves truck rides, chair naps with his favorite ball and watching people and critters. A staring contest with the neighbor's cat is still top entertainment. He takes inventory of his toys and panics when something is missing. We can't imagine life without this sweet, funny, slightly neurotic boy.
