Lizzy, BSR #1134-O (aka Lizzie) found her forever home March 22, 2019. Her new family is still amazed at her calm and gentle personality. Maybe due to her age, which we guesstimated to be more than 8 years at the time she came to BSR, she is beyond the typical Boykin high-energy years, but either way she is a very calm and loving girlkin. She came to BSR undernourished and heartworm positive. During her foster period, she was spayed and treated for heartworms as per the American Heartworm Association's recommended treatment protocol that BSR has followed for years. Unfortunately, she was found to have a resistant strain of which has become more common in the Mississippi Delta area where she came from, and it took almost a year before she tested negative. She is very healthy now! However, possibly due to her time on the run and having to fend for herself, she will eat most anything. She gained too much weight, so now her intake is limited to help control her weight. Since anything goes, to supplement her kibble she gets vegetables and fruit like raw carrots, apple, sweet potato, blueberries and the like to help her satisfaction. When she hears her mom chopping vegetables for a recipe, she goes running to get her handouts. She is a hit in the BSR community representing BSR at fund raiser and “friend-raiser” events. She was also selected as “Miss April” for the 2020 BSR Calendar. She loves being a lap dog and traveling anywhere and anytime with her family. To sum it all up, she’s a happy girl and her family is so happy she chose us. Thanks for all you do,Dan
