Mojo is learning the specialized art of “bud spotting”, very important for a Vineyard pup to know🍇
Mojo's Amazing Story by Teri & Bob Riggs
Mojo followed commands like a champ even entertaining the kids with his “high 5’s”. But he had some trust issues and didn’t like anyone under 5 feet tall or so. He would chase them like he was playing but then nip their legs when he caught up. I called the BSR folks who got me in touch with the pet psychologist and she gave us some very helpful suggestions on how to introduce people to Mojo. When guests would come over, we kept Mojo in our bedroom and brought people in one at a time. They simply would sit in the room with him and when he finally approached, they could scratch him under the chin. After being introduced around we would let him into the living room with us, but nobody paid attention to him, just let him get comfortable. He was smart from the very beginning and soon caught on that this was his new loving home. He loves to walk out with me when I go to tend the chickens – he barks in every direction to let all the bunnies and deer know that they better stay back. He tries to jump and fly after the turkey vultures and crows when they get too close. He loves to go for rides in the RTV or car or truck or just about anything with wheels and is the first one to bed every night where he hogs all the pillows. But his favorite thing is hanging with us while we go about our daily business making wine, taking care of the vines, working in the tasting room. He has truly become our winery dog and he’s careful to let everyone have a chance to pet him and love on him. We’re so lucky to have found each other and look forward to many years of cuddles and wiggles!
ADOPTER UPDATE: After our beautiful boy, George, had a catastrophic spinal event that took him to the Rainbow Bridge at only 5-years-old, the only salve was to rescue another LBD and shower him with love. Just flew down to Jacksonville to pick-up 6-year-old Mojo from his Boykin Rescue Foster Mom and driving him back up north to join our pack. He’s a sweet, smart cuddle bug and we’re looking forward to many happy years together!!
