Mattie Bell

Mattie Bell by Sarah Jane Taylor

Sweet Mattie Bell

We took Mattie Bell in as a foster dog in 2009. It is hard to believe it has been that long. On the other hand, we cannot remember her not being around. She was 8 years old when we took her in and we immediately fell in love with her. Mattie Bell transitioned into our family effortlessly.

Her personality is easy going and eager to please. When Mattie Bell gets excited she prances around wiggling her hind end which is typical for a Boykin. She is wonderful with our children. We have 2 acres including a pond where she spends plenty of time chasing squirrels and diving for tennis balls my kids throw in the water. She loves all of us but definitely connected with my husband the first day. She is his shadow and the highlight of her day is when he walks through the door from work. I should share that the other highlight would be when she follows me to visit our chicken coop to retrieve the eggs. She stands at the wire fence and salivates until I tell her it is time to go. She is affectionate with all of us and loves a good rub on her chest. Mattie Bell is a dream dog.
