Sam (now Rhett Butler) came into BSR's care as a 3-year-old with a very dark wavy coat. Sam was FULL of energy! The only thing he had more of than energy was love! He had been an outside-only dog prior to his intake but adjusted very well to life indoors.
When Sam came into foster care, he did not have any manners, but he learned quickly. He was very trainable and learned to respond to the basic commands: "come, sit, stay (without wiggling), no, and kennel" and to stay out of the kitchen (he was a counter surfer0!) He was also very good with scent and would probably enjoy nose works or obedience class type activities.
2020 Update:
Thank you for your sweet note regarding Sam’s one year anniversary with our family. Just so you know, Sam now goes by Captain Rhett Butler. We call him Rhett, and although he is very social, he has yet to find his Miss Scarlett. He is a love and has brought us so much joy. He spends half of his time in Tulsa and half on the Gulf Coast where we have a second home. He loves the beach!!! We could not have asked for a better dog. We thank you for selecting us as his parents!!
