Sally came into care when her wild ways were too much for her owner. Her lack of training and energy made her a risk for her older owners, and they knew that BSR would help her get the training and socialization she needed to find her very best life!
2020 Update Hello! It's been a bit of time since I've checked in and I wanted to send a little update about how I am doing. My mom says I am doing SOOOO well and loves to brag on me. So, I hear there is something out there called Corona that may not be such a good thing. But, I think it is a VERY good thing because my people are home. All the time. With me. Hooray!
Mom gave me a report card for my virtual learning this 9 weeks just like my girls and I thought I would share:
Hunting and Gathering:
Got a B here. Wow. Like wow. Who knew that hunting (as in suburban backyard hunting) was so fun. I never knew much about outside before, but holy boykins - it's my favorite place to be. My yard is full of birds, squirrels, and lizards. I'm not really sure why, but I think I'm pretty good at it. Mom says it's a Boykin thing. I can stand so still for as long as I need to and only move my nose. My favorite is sneaking up on squirrels and I'm proud to say I'm a pretty good lizard catcher. My brothers are so ugh. I'm the one who spots what I am hunting for and goes after it and they just run after me and spoil the element of surprise. Boys!
So, I did have one area to improve in my hunting and gathering grade. I figured out that if I roll in poop, my prey can't smell me. Isn't that the best? Mom says it's not and fusses at me when I start rolling in the yard. So far I've loved possum poop. It's my favorite. Oh, and did you know that if you roll all over a dead lizard ... wait for it ... you smell like a dead lizard! I think it's awesome. My people, not so much.
Social Skills
Well, got a B+ here and I'm pretty psyched about it. When I first came to my forever home, I really wasn't sure of anything. I knew Lizzie was awesome, mom was okay, and well Dad and Julia were suspect. And, I didn't understand what my tail was for except to tuck it. Did you know that a tail wags and that mine wags a lot more now? And, that Dad and Julia are pretty awesome?d Mom says that the best thing about me is that I make everyone feel like they are my person. (Although, I do have a soft spot for Lizzie.) I haven't growled in several months and I think people are pretty fun. I love a good party! The vet says my name Mustang Sally is perfect.
Personal Hygiene -
Got an A- here. When I first got to my forever home, I didn't know what to do when I needed to go to the ladies' room. My mom kept taking me outside, but I wasn't sure why. She started using this clicky thing and giving me a treat when I did my business. And, I finally got it! I'm not sitting at the door yet, but I'm not having any accidents.
Awards and Recognition:
So, I'm most excited about this award. I received the virtual schooling Love Bug award! I beat out Beemer and Oscar (and mom and dad say any pup they have ever had). I make everyone in the family feel special and that they are my one. My favorite is when everyone gets up in the morning at different times and I let them know how excited I am to see them and how much I love them.
I also received the "Most up for a party" award. I love to play. A lot. Oscar won't play with me (he's a cat in a dog suit) but Beemer will more than not. (Mom says he's getting up there in age whatever that means.) My people love that I growl and snort when I play and run around the yard. I love when Beemer chases me because he can never catch me. Girls rule!
The final and favorite award I received for this virtual school term is the best friend award. This is my favorite one. Sometimes my people need extra love and I just know who needs what. I know my girls miss their friends because of this Corona thing and so there have been lots of extra kisses and snuggles. I am happy to sleep at night with whoever of my people and hang out with them until they wake up.
Well, that's all of my grades. Lots of Boykin kisses to you and thank you for my forever home! And, my people say thank you for the gift of well, "Me!"
