Shaw was a nearly perfect Boykin when she came into BSR's care. She had had some field experience, and an excellent, caring family, but their lives changed and she could no longer be cared for appropriately or give her the time and training she needed.
While her foster mom did not know much about field trials, she did find that Shaw had a favorite stuffed duck that she loved to retrieve. She knew how to heel to the left side, to stay when the duck was thrown and responded to the “bag” command, running to retrieve the duck. She was crate trained, did well with other dogs, and loved all people she met...she was about as perfect as a rescue gets! The challenge her fosters had was choosing the single applicant that best met all her needs!
May 2020 Update:
Shaw says thanks for the Gotcha Card! We are doing great considering the virus circumstances. I am now fully retired so Shaw is always by my side and we’re loving it. I want to thank BSR from the bottom of my heart for selecting me to care for Shaw, she has captured all of our hearts and is truly a center point of our family. We exercise each day, take trips to the beach, boat rides and go on sportsman outings.
