Lulu (Shiloh Rae) came into BSR's care as a 10-month-old female with abundant energy that led to difficulty in her owners' training her successfully. She also suffered from chronic urinary tract infections due to an anatomical deformity. In care, her foster found her to be an exceptionally kind-hearted dog who loved all other dogs no matter what size. But, she definitely prized her play time! Channeling this energy into retrieving, swimming and chasing birds made all the difference in her training and overall development into a great little brown dog!
2021 Update:
Thank you for the Gotcha card. Shiloh enjoyed it.
It has been 3 years since we brought her home. They have been the best of times along with some challenging times...she is so doggone smart and stubborn!! Yet, she never misses a chance to endear herself to us!
She has some funny routines for going out and welcoming us home. If she wants to go out, she will make a circle in front of the door. Then she will stop where I am sitting and look at me. Then she does it again. If she really has to go, she will jump and bark and then head to the door. When I get up to take her out, we play a game where she continues her circle and I try to put her harness on. If my wife takes her out, she will sit and Julie will hum the tune to Pink Panther and try to throw the harness over Shiloh's head. Shiloh will either sit or stand perfectly still while the "Shiloh Toss" continues. When she goes out, she has a routine where she looks at all the places where she has seen squirrels, rabbits, birds, anything that is invading her territory. She loves to run and fetch. She and her sister, Kyree, have a ball playing and wrestling, too!
She also has a routine when we come home where she greets us at the door with a present. A shoe, bone, toy, whatever she can find. Sometimes when you catch her by surprise, you can tell she is struggling to find something quickly; it is funny to watch!
She has started a new trick when she wants to be petted or get up on my lap: she will stand up and take her front paw and paw my arm or hand. If I ignore her, she just jumps up on my lap, no matter what is sitting on my lap. Then she gets comfortable and settles in.
She has been a joy to have around. Enjoy the pictures and know that she is in good hands.
