Sunshine's Adoption Bio: Hi, my name is Sunshine, but you can call me Sunny. I am a petite lady Boykin with dark wavy brown fur. I weight 34 pounds. Despite my premature graying, my vet thinks that I am only about six years old. I am chipped, clipped and very healthy. I love people, attention and most of all my new life. I like being petted more than any dog you have ever met.
I don't chew, dig, run away, counter-surf, or bark. My foster Dad has trained me to stay out of the kitchen and to stay off furniture and the bed. However, there is nothing in the world I would rather do than snuggle up to you on the couch. If you want to "untrain" me on that, I will be your cuddle pal. I am crate trained but so far I have not needed to use it much. At night I sleep on the floor at the foot of my fosters bed. I have never had a nighttime accident.
Before rescue I was in a situation where I had to “do my business” in the same place where I was kenneled. So my foster Dad had to house train me again. I am doing great with that, but it is important that you take me out several times a day, especially after meals, so that I do not have a relapse.
I like riding in the car, and behave well. My foster has trained me to stay in the back seat, and I am very content there. I love meeting new people, especially children. I I love everyone, and in my excitement, I still jump up on people sometimes. My foster Dad has made some progress with me on that, but I just can't help myself if I think you might give me a good scratch.
My perfect home would be with folks who are around most of the time. You see I spent so much of my life alone up til now that I am making up for lost time. If my new people could also have the time and commitment to continue to work with me on perfecting my house manners, including patience, consistency and diligence with my house-breaking. I am a quick and eager learner. Small children might not be the best idea, since I am still learning not to jump.
If you are ready to give and get some love, I may be the dog for you.
2018 Adopter Update!
We are loving her and think she likes it with us up here as well . We allowed her off leash yesterday for the first time and she frolicked through the aspen grove checking out everything everywhere and then jumped enthusiastically into the trout pond... no fear of swimming. 😃👌
We took her to our vet: she has a left ear infection which we are treating now. Her foster mentioned this. She is on a bit of a diet .. the vet said she would be much happier 8 or 9lbs lighter.
We are delighted with the way our relationship with BSR has turned out
